List what you want changed
Chrome delete describes covering or replacing bright trim, often with a dark finish. Walk around your vehicle and list the window surrounds, handles, mirror housings and badges you want included. Some Teslas already have dark factory trim, so inspect your particular year and body before requesting work.
Make quotes comparable
Choose the finish and ask each shop to quote the same pieces. Confirm whether badges are removed or covered, how edges are finished, and whether damaged trim needs repair first. Ask for photos of similar work and the film code. Wheel refinishing is a separate job; do not assume a trim quote includes it.
Keep functional surfaces clear
Discuss cameras, sensors, lamps, mirror glass, seals and moving handles with the installer. The plan should preserve their function. Compare a real sample next to the car’s glass, and ask about aftercare and future removal before booking.
Build your trim checklist
Take a photo of every piece in the proposed scope and mark the pieces that should stay unchanged. Small differences in coverage can explain why two quotes differ. Decide whether the finish should match the window surrounds exactly or contrast with them. A good preview direction still needs a real sample.
- List the trim pieces by location, including both sides.
- Specify gloss, satin or matte rather than simply “black.”
- Confirm badge treatment and any separate replacement parts.
- Check that cameras, mirror glass and lamps stay uncovered.
